NRAM LIVE is a showcase of young musicians from regional Australia with big dreams and bigger futures!

Featuring some of this country’s finest (and youngest) singer-songwriters, contemporary & jazz musicians and technical crew, Northern Rivers Academy of Music (NRAM), the National Youth Jazz Academy (NYJA), together with NRAM Studios and the Regional Youth & Performing Arts Foundation are putting its National Artist Development show on the road!

The stables of NRAM and NYJA have been one of Australia’s best kept secrets and helped launch numerous successful careers for young artists around the country through its critically acclaimed mentorship program.

For the first time, NRAM LIVE is also inviting students from the Riverina Conservatorium Of Music as guest performers at this show.

Handpicked by James Morrison himself, the JMA Honours Ensemble are in their fourth and final year of study at the James Morrison Academy of Music (Uni SA).

Playing original compositions and arrangements of jazz standards, the band consists of: Tom Panckridge - Trombone, Lachlan Karl Hamilton - Tenor Saxophone, Jake Barden - Alto Saxophone, Harry Morrison - Double Bass, William Morrison - Guitar and Patrick Danao - Drums.

A rare opportunity to hear the JMA Honours Ensemble like this must not be missed!

Rossini, in his infinite and comic wisdom, was once heard to exclaim "How wonderful opera would be if there were no singers!" 19th century clarinetists decided to take Rossini's words to heart and arranged a dazzling selection of music from popular operas for clarinet and piano. Jenny Binovec (clarinet) and Hamish Tait (piano) explore mellifluous melodies combined with virtuosic variations, from Verdi’s La Traviata and Rigoletto, as well as music by Rossini, Mozart and others

Lauren Davis (violin) and Hamish Tait (piano) will join forces once again with friends to celebrate the creativity of Grieg and his sonatas.

At its core, this recital will explore Grieg’s third and final Violin Sonata in C Minor Opus 45. This amazingly virtuosic and romantic work is a favourite of violinists and pianists alike and is the most commonly performed of the three sonatas.

Coupled with other pivotal works by Grieg this recital will take listeners on a romantic Nordic journey.

Come on a thrilling journey through the songs and dances of Latin America, from tangos by Piazzolla, to mambos, bossa nova and improvised salsa!

In an irresistible program of piano, guitar, voice and a host of South American instruments, let yourself be transported to Argentina, Chile and Brazil by two of Australia’s leading exponents of Latin music, Daniel Rojas and Carlos Villanueva.

Black No Sugar delivers straight up jazz, featuring experienced musicians with a vast performance history. Led by Brendan Moore on trombone, the group focuses on modern jazz as well as paying homage to the classics you all know and love.

'KB3' is comprised of acoustic guitar, bass and percussion and play a quirky mix of originals, instrumentals and covers. The band features the songs and guitar playing of Klaus Bussman who has recorded and performed nationally and internationally with artists such as John Waters (Looking Thru a Glass Onion) and Glen Shorrock (Little River Band). The line-up is rounded out with Greg Gilmour (bass) and Wayne Pigram (percussion, vocals) a formidable rhythm section of many years standing.

Like a river fed from many different tributaries, the music of Arabesk draws upon strong jazz influences from Django Reinhardt and Wes Montgomery as well as Eastern European gypsy and classical music, with a backdrop of African and Arabic rhythms. At any moment it will swing hard, or drop into a thick funk-pumped bassline, all the while with the violin floating above it. 

Arabesk are a powerhouse of invention and innovation.

Coming together for the first time are pianists Helena Kernaghan and Hamish Tait who will present Rachmaninov’s Second Suite, Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun, Ravel’s Mother Goose Suite and Manuel Infante’s Andalusian Dances.
