Duo Amythis comprises of classical guitarists Véronique van Duurling (Belgium) and Harold Gretton (Australia). Currently based in Germany, the two artists present two very different musical personalities, who delight in bringing their worlds together in their musical interpretations.

They will play a selection of works from their recent album “The Journey”, including Grainger folksong arrangements and Johannes Möller's epic “When buds are breaking”, as well they will perform new transcriptions of works by Ginastera, Rossini and Albéniz.

Filipino-American pianist Jovanni-Rey V. de Pedro has developed an international reputation as a soloist, collaborator, pedagogue, speaker, entrepreneur and philanthropist. Jovanni-Rey will present an evening of riveting piano works, the recital will feature sonatas by Haydn and Rachmaninoff, a world premiere of a new work by Christopher Norton, pieces by RCM piano faculty member and composer Joanne Burrows, and selections from his recently released CD, Tributo a Ginastera

This concert will feature the combined skills of Claire Phillips, Lauren Davis, Tamaris Pfeiffer, Hamish Tait and guest artists Kyle Ramsay-Daniel (double bass) and Justin Lingard (trumpet). The program will include music of Glinka’s Sextet and Saint-Saen’s Septet, scored for piano quintet with the addition of double bass and trumpet.

RCM Concert Series No.#8: Orpheus Piano Trio

The Orpheus Piano Trio will present a program centered on two rarely performed works, namely Arensky’s Piano Trio in D Minor and Ravel's Mother Goose Suite.  Russian composer Arensky (1861 – 1906) was an integral part of the Russian musical world of his day. Piano Trio No. 1 in D Minor Op.32 is one of his most successful works, and was dedicated to the memory of the legendary Russian cellist, Karl Davidoff.  The trio are joined by a narrator for Ravel's Mother Goose Suite which was originally composed for four hands on piano, and later transcribed for piano trio by Australian composer Ben Martin.

Marie-Cecile Henderson will team up with pianist Geoffrey Xeros to present this tribute to the ‘voice of riches and warmth’. This performance will feature Respighi’s Il Tramonto (The Sunset), as well as Lieder and art songs of the great mezzo-sopranos including Janet Baker, Kathleen Ferrier and Christa Ludwig.
